ABOUT US

 Happy Acres Ranch is a working ranch of 48 acres located in the southwest corner of MarionCounty and is owned by the James B Moore Trust.  The business side of the ranch is operated by Moore’s Happy Acres LLC.  The LLC provides services and sales primarily of horses, but also Charolais cattle.  In addition, we offer boarding and foaling, accommodations for boarders and guest vacationers, equine transportation, trail rides and ridding lessons.

 

The area surrounding the ranch has 50 miles of trails just outside the front gate.  Only three miles from Happy Acres Ranch is the Pruitt Trailhead, which also merges into the Florida Greenway that provides trail riding through the central part of the State.  The surrounding area also offers boating, canoeing and swimming just seven miles from the ranch at Rainbow Springs and the RainbowRiver.  Dunnellon, seven miles to the west and Ocala, seven miles to the northeast put our Ranch right in the middle of some of the best golf courses in Florida.  We have provided links to some of these attractions for you to explore here on our web site. LakeOttingPark, offering tennis and picnicking, is just a mile and a half from the Ranch.

We have three guest homes on the Happy Acres Ranch grounds that accommodate patrons by the day, week, month or annually.  Check our rates and see if it is not less expensive than a hotel.  Where else can you get the atmosphere of the Ocala horse country than on an Ocala horse Ranch?  The homes known as Lonesome Dove, Happy Hooves and Crazy Horse, are all three bedrooms and two baths homes, and each features selective décor and ambiance that impart a genuine feel of ranch life.    

 Why not have all the amenities and comforts of a home with a pristine view rather than a hotel room?  Each home offers a two-car garage, Direct TV, fireplace, washer and dryer and screened porch.

The Ranch has 33 stalls to accommodate boarders.  Of those, 19 are in two newly constructed concrete block barns.  These two new barns offer modern bathroom facilities and a kitchen for coffee, lunch or TV.  Also, we provide a private tack room for boarders to lock up their saddles and tack.  We even provide lock up facilities for boarders who wish to feed their own horses and need a secure place for storing several bags of feed or a small amount of hay.

Our stalls are 12’ X 12’ and can be enlarged to 24’ X 12’ for foaling or post-natal care.  Web Cams are provided in some stalls for boarders who wish to monitor their horses 24/7 on the Internet.  We also provide comfortable sleeping quarters in the barn for owners or grooms on one- or two-day layover.  For boarders who want to work their mounts to polish up their skills, we have two arenas, one of which is lighted.  We also have one 50’ round pen.

The Ranch provides transportation for guest and boarders to and from shows, training facilities, and vet care, either across town or across Florida.  Our equipment is new and state-of-the-art.  One trailer is 52 feet in length and carries four horses with tack and has an apartment that sleeps 4 people comfortably.  It is ideal for shows.

At Happy Acres Ranch breeding and selling of horses pay the bills.  We also dabble in Charolais cattle.  Primarily we handle Thoroughbreds and Quarter horses.  However, lately we have had a few paints (APHA) as well.  If you’re looking for cutting, roping or racing horses, maybe we can help.  If we don’t have what you want, we’ll know where to send you.
